XHTML. CSS. CMS. XML. DOM. RSS. PHP. MySQL. LAMP. Exciting stuff isn’t it?
More like BLAH. Or FEAR. What seems like boring and/or scary terminology to you is what makes the web tick and we live for that stuff.
Our philosophy on web design is that the internet, while very useful, can be ugly and hard to use and we like to help people change that while assisting them in launching a web presence or modify an existing one. We use open-source and custom technologies, apply web standards, and a focus on usability and accessibility to design or redesign your site in a way that will be better both now and in the future for you and everyone who visits it.
Some things we can do for you:
We can design the first site for your business.
We can even do it in a way that allows you to edit your own content. And you won’t have to learn any of those acronyms. Really. It will be like editing a term paper. In English.
We can redesign your old site.
All of the above applies here too.
We can convert your old static site to a dynamic one.
Same looks but now you can do updates on your own.
We can design a blog for you.
You know you want to blog about it.
We do Flash.
And we think we are pretty good at knowing when and where it’s right to use it.
Explore our case studies for examples of all of the above and more. There is a lot of web stuff in there. If you see something you like or wonder if we can do something you don’t see, send us an email. Chances are we can either do it or help you find the person who can.
Case Studies in Web Design
Hawaii Human Resources
In just over a year, Ocupop and HiHR have created one of the most recognized and respected brands in Hawaii. Acting as a trusted partner and marketing steward Ocupop has shaped the company’s look and message.
Aloha on Rails
As the platinum sponsor of this international software event, Ocupop provided the collateral and message that lured 300 engineers and tech entrepreneurs to paradise.
Eric Melzer Photography
Eric came to us with a very large body of work in his portfolio and over the course of several year and multiple versions we feel like we have refined an effective system for displaying his wide range of talent. Minimal but powerful use of Flash combine with a custom PHP template system to display both a guided overview of his current favorites and a keyword searchable database of his entire catalog.
Fox Tax Service
We set out to prove that scrambling to find how many days til your latest quarterly is due can be more fun than Asking Jeeves. Simple straight-forward tax and accounting information organized in a way that their clients understand, all wrapped up in the company colors. The new (and still evolving) Gallery section is powered by WordPress with content maintained by the Siblings Fox.
Probably one of the largest projects Ocupop has tackled, bringing a freshly redesigned (by us) print catalog of several hundred items to the web. PHP/MySQL power both the the site and its custom Admin System which allows Garelick and Ocupop to collaborate on maintenance of all of the companies product data.
IRIS Fine Yarns
Simple but elegant. The IRIS website is an extension of its identity design, mostly used as a calling card and announcement board for Phyllis and her staff in Appleton. Look for big changes at IRIS in 2009 as we guide them from bricks and mortar to online sales.
It’s very “kid in a candy store” to get the opportunity to work with a company whose product you have been fanatically supporting for the last 20(!) years so it goes without saying that we really enjoy working on Midwest Represent projects. The current incarnation spreads the gospel of Burton to the great Midwest via a smorgasbord of WordPress,Flash,AJAX, and Quicktime. We have a big overhaul, both graphically and technically, in the hopper for before the first snowfall.
