Fox Tax Service

From partner Mark Fox: “There is no model for living and no Idiot’s Guide to follow. We must all find our own path and walk it alone. That being said (and to continue the litany of overused adages), none of us is an island. None of us can, in this Age of Information Overload, be an expert in all that life requires. And Life does bring with it certain universal inevitabilities – two of which round out this paragraph of pilfered proverbs – death and taxes.”

In 2004, fresh off of over a decade of combined experience at larger firms, Mark and Alyssa Fox set out on their own to found an uncommonly cool accounting firm. Focused on artists, musicians and creative small businesses, Fox Tax has grown from small start-up to nearly 3000 clients strong in just three years. Ocupop has been there every step of the way.

We know parents aren’t supposed to say this, but…well…they might be our favorite…

Fox Tax Service

Promotional flyers for CMJ2005-2007 - 'more than 100,000 music professionals, artists and fans converge on the music capital of the world every autumn for CMJ Music Marathon and CMJ FilmFest, celebrating the very best in new music, film and pop culture.' - Michael re-drew the subway map, b/c he 'had' to control the colors. ID system, playing on the inherent nerdiness of accountants and the hip spin that Mark, Alyssa and their team lend to an otherwise pathetically dour industry. 'Bonus Cards' offered as promotions at various events and given away with first printing of the book.. Cover design, Book layout and message strategy. Promotional materials for distribution at events, retailers, college campuses, etc. Book Refill Promotion for 2006. Promotional 'COMP' handed out at the annual Fox Tax 'ROCK FOR REFUNDS' concert and book release party. Printed materials used by Mark Fox in a series of lectures at various New York City Art and Music Campuses. Series of ads run in 'The Onion' Series of ads run in 'The Onion' Promotional Buttons designed for, and distributed at every show everywhere. Company scooter redesigns - there is a his and hers! We were there when our good friends at Fox Tax signed the lease on their new office/gallery space, and the transformation is incredible. It turns out that Mark and Alyssa are not only tax/accounting wizards, but they can get those ten-key hands dirty with fantastic results as well - we suspect illegal elfin labor of some sort. Though we were of no real help in the actual work part of things, Ocupop consulted on layout, color, and space planning, in addition to designing the wall systems, window artwork, and awning. Party up front, business in the back. Custom translucent, modular walls - from the future! One of the artists even was so kind as to generate a painting in accord with the Identity Manual - nicely compliments the collateral. Bright polished aluminum frames the Ocupop-designed awning out front - engineering is fun! Gallery grand opening invites. Does your account have concert tour t-shirts? Dates on the back are all of the major tax deadlines - so as long as you wash your clothes once a month (and fold your laundry), you'll have no excuse for missing those estimated payments!

The slideshow below should provide a behind-the-scenes perspective on the identity development process. Though every client and every brand is obviously different, this peak behind the curtain has proven to be enlightening for clients over the years.
